Notes for Competitors
Roadbook
Not all junctions have been included in the road book. Where there is no instruction, continue along the road on which you are travelling. Names on signposts were those displayed at the time of route survey and no responsibility is accepted for subsequent changes.
Driving
Please observe all speed limits and drive slowly between stages especially on narrow public roads. The Police may be operating radar speed checks on route, we will have no sympathy with those caught. Please remember this also applies to service and management crews.
Stage Safety
Medical and Rescue Units will be established to cover each stage. Competitors requiring urgent medical attention should display the SOS board, if unhurt after a mishap, display the OK board.
Chicanes & Tightened Junctions
These are there to dramatically reduce speeds at that point so that average speeds are reduced. Please note that these chicanes are narrow and will be constructed from solid material (tyres and straw bales). The tulip diagrams will indicate the locations of all chicanes and tightened junctions.
Service Areas & Route
Servicing is only allowed at points specified in this roadbook. Judges of fact will be patrolling the route and adverse reports may result in a penalty being applied to the competitor concerned.
Retirements
Please telephone Rally HQ (07970 264094 or 07887 742508) if you retire, so that messages can be placed on the Competitors Notice Board. Please return Damage Declaration form to an Official, including any reason for retirement for inclusion in the results. Failure to return this form to Secretary of the Meeting within 72 hours will result in penalties (K35.4) being applied.
Results Queries
If you have a query regarding times etc. then tick the box provided on the front of the time card and make your query in writing on the back of the time card.
Finally, have a good and enjoyable days sport and we hope to see you at the Prize Presentation at Brantingham Park this evening.

Control Procedures
It is recommended that these instructions are read in conjunction with sections K28, K29, K30, and K31 of the 2000 MSA General Regulations.
Main Time Control (MTC)
Layout of a Time Control

MTC’s will be situated at the start, mid event regroup and finish of the rally. Competitors can calculate their DUE TIME at MTC0A by adding their start number in minutes to 08:20.
At any MTC, providing that the maximum permitted lateness allowance since the previous MTC has not been exceeded, overall lateness will be reset to zero.
The control area starts at the yellow clock board and stretches to a point 25 metres past the red clock board. The clock and timekeeper will be situated at the red clock board.
The "check-in" procedure begins when the competing car passes the yellow clock board. The car must not stop between the yellow and red control boards. To obtain a time, both crew members and the car must be within the control area unless the control area is congested when common sense must prevail.
All times recorded are to the minute, omitting the seconds (e.g. 14:09:37 is recorded as 14:09). The competitor is allowed to enter the control area during the ‘Check-In’ minute or the minute preceding it. NB only the time at which the ‘Timecard is presented’ may be entered on the timecard.
Example.
A crew which is due to check in at a control at 18:58 may enter the control area between 18:57:00 and 18:58:59, but must hand their timecard to the Timekeeper between 18:58:00 and 18:58:59.
Control Procedures
Special Stage Arrival Time Control (ATC)
Layout of Special Stage Arrival Time Controls and Start Time Controls

The ATC should be treated exactly the same as an MTC however the competitors due time is now calculated by adding the departure time from the previous control (minus the seconds) plus the target time given for the relevant section. Any lateness will be counted towards the competitors maximum lateness.
On arrival at the ATC, the competitor must be ready to start the stage (helmets on, extinguisher armed etc.). The ATC timekeepers will continue to issue arrival times even if the stage is suspended.
Please remember that the area between the ATC and the stage start is Parc Ferme which means competitors may not work on their cars other than to change a punctured tyre (for which crews are allowed an additional 5 minutes), the cleaning of windows, lights or competition numbers.
Special Stage Start Time Control (STC)
When the ATC procedure has been completed, the competitor should move to the Special Stage Start. The start marshal will issue a time for the competitor to start the stage, once the Countdown Sequence has been completed, whether the competitor is ready or not .
The countdown sequence will be as follows :-
The start marshal will give a loud verbal warning at 15 seconds and 5 seconds prior to the competitors start time. At 5 seconds prior, the start flag will be placed on the bonnet of the car. The countdown will continue with 5,4,3,2,1 GO. The marshal will raise the flag on go, this being the signal for the competitor to start the stage.
Control Procedures
Special Stage Finish Time Control (FTC)
Layout of Special Stage Finish Controls

After crossing the flying finish at competitive speed and coming to a halt at the stop board the competitor will receive his stage finish time in hours, minutes and seconds. A competitor who overshoots the stop line must not reverse but return on foot to collect their finish time.
Service Areas
The service areas will have ‘In’ and ‘Out’ controls with a target time specified between these controls. The marking will be as per an equivalent Road Section. Competitors are advised to read carefully the separate notes regarding service areas.
Passage Check (PC)
These are incorporated within the route for the purposes of time card collection (result calculation). They may also be added en route for sound Checking. Competitors should be aware that a mid point Sound Check may be sited after an ATC i.e. within the confines of a Parc Ferme. However the organisers reserve the right to Sound test cars at random at any time during the event.
