Well, here we go again. A little more panicky this time, but it all gelled in the end. Thanks once again to our Roving Reporter Petchy for providing some of this month’s content. And back by popular demand (yes, I did have his arm up his back!) Matt Blood.
The surreptitious movement of photo’s is still rife. Keep ‘em coming. They’re getting better (or should that be worse?)
And what a busy two months since the last Mag. How’s this for a full calendar;
12 February NHMC Autotest.
17 February 12 Car with Matthew Atkinson.
4 March Off skiing for a week in Val D’isere (it’s a hard life!).
11 March Back from skiing.
12 March Sporting Escort Owner’s Club Larkspeed/ANCC Autotest.
18/19 March Start preparing new shell for ‘Heepy’
23 March End of term 12 Car bash! Petchy back in the hot seat.
25 March Hartlepool ANCC Autotest.
31 March/1 April Over to Rotterdam to collect my new Primera.
8 April More work on new shell.
Then Matthew wonders why I don’t go marshalling!
What about that last 12 Car! Great bash! Real nostalgia back in Holderness and seeing THAT 1300 Mini of Dave Bennett & Oliver Jopson bouncing and sparking along the road. What a great sight, really brought back memories. And they looked ultra quick, which was why I was surprised when Petchy started shouting for me to push them into letting us by. "Then what?" I thought. These guys were really flying and I didn’t want to hold them up. Judging by their comments back at the club, I didn’t. Thanks for pulling over.
Our mistake was signing on at number 2. The early plotting proved crucial and next thing we knew, lower starting Expert crews were passing us while we were plotting. However, our demise was sealed by a failure to stop at an SGW immediately following a time control (was a time when you were deemed to have given way merely by stopping at the control). It only dropped us one place, though 4th is not what we usually produce. Much sucking of air through teeth at the announcement. ‘Smug Mode’ acknowledged! Cracking event around the old Holderness haunt though, with some classics from way (WAAAY) back! Brilliant!
