Sheffield & Hallamshire Curborough Sprint
Jon Meacock entered this, the 4th event in the Larkspeed Championship. Such was his enthusiasm he actually slept in his Golf GTi near to the venue! Jon doesn’t recommend it however, as the cricked neck woke him up at 04.45 hours! This meant he was the first to sign on and walk the course. Quite what good this does with your head cranked over at 45° I don’t know.
After his first timed run Jon was lying second in the Standard Road-Going Class. However, the arrival of BDMC member Dave Twilton, himself an experienced hillclimber, added to Jon’s day with some timely advice. The day didn’t run completely smooth though, the throttle cable fell off prior to the start of one timed run. A big lock-up on another run also spoilt one of his times.
At the end of what Jon described as "A spot on day" he brought the Golf home 3rd in his class of eight finishers. As well as having a lot of fun (cricked neck excepted!) he also bagged another bunch of valuable Larkspeed points for the club. See you at the shareout Jon!
