Editorial

Next issue already. Had to get a move on with this one as we didn’t want it clashing with ‘The Daughter’s’ wedding this month. Thought we’d never get rid of her!

Apologies to all our reader’s for the ‘thin’ Mag this month, but Potts was wittering ‘cos his staples aren’t long enough to go through a thick one. Me ‘n’ Petchy offered him some nails. Just can’t please some people.

Thanks again to the regular contributor’s. Matt Blood not only scrounging a copy of the ANCC Road Rally report, but also producing a cartoon of me’n’ Heepy to be found elsewhere in the Mag. Not a brilliant likeness of either of us, but correctly reflecting my thoughts during the petrol shortage in September.

Sadly the crisis did rob us of one ANCC Autotest which Trackrod’s Derek Lee attempted to organise on Melbourne. Hopefully it’ll run later this year.

I’m looking forward to reading ‘Chairman’s Chunterings’ and Potts’s report on another of his and Petchy’s successful forays into the competitive world of Road Rallying. Petchy does things with a Renault Laguna Estate that Richard Burns would be proud of!

Still more work being done on Heepy. I bought a foot long, 50mm diameter piece of Nylatron and commissioned Nellie to turn me some suspension bushes from it on his lathe. These were duly fitted to the front lower suspension arms and tie bars. Then the whole lot was tracked up, with the now mandatory 11 stone of ballast sat in the driver’s seat. The wife’s a very patient lady!

The 12 car rally season is now upon us and, by the time you read this, the new Primera will have (hopefully) completed it’s first event with Matthew Atkinson filling the left hand seat (with what?). Petchy being the organiser for this Southbank event. I hope Matthew isn’t plotting any ditches en route.

Howie.
