We are pleased that the second Reed Group East Riding Stages Rally is again oversubscribed, with a record 167 competitors seeking a run on this exciting event.
Sadly some competitors were inevitably disappointed when they were one of the 27 crews who have had to be placed on the reserve list, even taking into account that the event can accept 140 entries this year.
We can confirm that other than a small number of priority entries which the event allocated for deserving cases, everyone else had an equal chance of getting an entry, and the draw was undertaken using a random draw website.
This has meant that contenders in some championships are currently on the reserve list, which is exactly as we described would happen in the regulations. Allocating them a higher priority would have meant disadvantaging other competitors, something the East Riding Stages Rally organising team felt would not be fair.
Last year the event saw a total of 30 entries withdrawn, which is more than the size of the reserve list this year, therefore we hope that most, if not all, of the competitors on the reserve list at the moment, will eventually be offered a run.
Unfortunately the web entry system can only show the reserve list in receipt order at the moment, however, the reserve allocation has also been randomised, and
reserves will be filled in the order they came out of the randomiser.
